A little organized chaos

The drawing on my homepage follows a point through a three-dimensional dynamical system. A few equations describe how it moves; the line records the path it takes.

You can switch between Lorenz, Clifford, Thomas, and Rössler systems. Their trajectories can stay in a bounded region while remaining sensitive to the starting point. That combination gives strange attractors their intricate shapes.

This is a numerical sketch, projected onto a flat page. The integration steps and projection affect the picture, so it is an invitation to explore rather than a scientific simulation. Pause it to look closely, or choose another system.
